Anderson, IN (Sports Network) - The Indianapolis Colts and first-round pick Bjoern Werner have agreed in principle to a contract, the club announced Wednesday.

The Colts selected Werner with the 24th overall pick in April's draft.

A defensive end at Florida State, Werner will shift to outside linebacker in the Colts' 3-4 scheme.

Werner was named the ACC's Defensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2012 after recording 13 sacks and 42 tackles, including 18 for a loss.
