Green Bay, WI (SportsNetwork.com) - Green Bay linebacker Clay Matthews' injured right thumb will keep him out of the lineup for the Packers' crucial Week 17 clash with NFC North rival Chicago Bears.

Matthews originally broke his thumb on Oct. 6 and missed four games after undergoing surgery. He returned to the lineup but re-injured the thumb while sacking Ben Roethlisberger in the second quarter of Green Bay's 38-31 loss to Pittsburgh on Dec. 22.

The winner of Sunday's tilt will claim the NFC North crown and host a first round playoff game.

Green Bay has Christmas off but will return to practice on Thursday. It will be determined then if quarterback Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) will be ready to return to the field.
