Allen Park, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Detroit Lions head coach Jim Schwartz announced at his Monday press conference that wide receiver Ryan Broyles has a ruptured Achilles. Surgery is scheduled for tomorrow and the second year wide receiver out of Oklahoma will miss the remainder of the season.

This marks the third straight year that Broyles has gone down with a season- ending injury. The first two he suffered were torn ACLs, one in each knee. Broyles tore the ACL in his left knee during his senior season at Oklahoma and the ACL in his right knee last year as a rookie with Detroit.

In 16 games played over the past two years, he has caught 30 passes for 395 yards and two touchdowns.

The loss of Broyles gives the Lions wide receiving corps very little answers aside from Calvin Johnson, with fellow wideout Nate Burleson recovering from a broken arm. Kris Durham and Kevin Ogletree will assume the duties behind Johnson.
