Englewood, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will play in Sunday's AFC West showdown against Kansas City despite a sprained ankle.

An MRI exam Monday revealed an aggravation of a high right ankle sprain that Manning had sustained earlier this season. Interim head coach Jack Del Rio said there was no new damage to the ankle.

"He'll definitely play this week. He's ready to roll," Del Rio said.

Manning took several rough hits during this past Sunday's game against San Diego and came up limping after a fourth-quarter completion that helped seal Denver's 28-20 victory.

The four-time NFL MVP has the Broncos off to an 8-1 start heading into a matchup against the unbeaten Chiefs set for Sunday night in Denver. He has also put up incredible numbers in doing so.

In just nine games this season, Manning has completed 71 percent of his passes for 3,249 yards with 33 touchdowns and six interceptions.
