Berea, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Browns placed running back Montario Hardesty on injured reserve on Tuesday after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery earlier in August.

Hardesty, who has dealt with knee problems for most of his pro career, had surgery to help repair the anterior cruciate ligaments in both of his knees.

The 26-year-old was a second round pick of the Browns in 2010. He missed the entire 2010 season with an ACL injury. In two seasons with the Browns, Hardesty ran for 537 yards over 23 games.

The Browns waived linebacker Kendrick Adams, offensive linemen Dominic Alford and Ryan Miller, wide receiver Dominique Croom, defensive lineman Nicolas Jean-Baptiste, fullback Owen Marecic, and tight end Travis Tannahill.

Offensive lineman Chris Faulk was placed on reserve/non-football injury, while the Browns claimed linebacker Paul Hazel from the Jacksonville Jaguars and punter Colton Schmidt from the San Francisco 49ers off waivers.

Cleveland's roster currently sits at the NFL's 75-man limit.
