San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - The San Antonio Spurs announced Thursday that forward Jeff Pendergraph has formally changed his last name to Ayres.

Ayres is the family name of his biological father, James. It replaces the surname of Jeff's former stepfather.

Last season, Ayres appeared in 37 games with the Indiana Pacers and averaged 3.9 points and 2.8 rebounds per contest. Entering his fourth NBA season, the Arizona State product has career averages of 2.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 96 games with the Pacers and Portland Trail Blazers.

He signed a two-year, $3.6 million deal with the Spurs in July.
