Washington, DC (Sports Network) - The Washington Wizards signed veteran forward Al Harrington on Wednesday.

Per team policy, terms of the deal were not released.

"Al's all-around game and reputation as a leader make him a solid fit with our team," Wizards president Ernie Grunfeld said. "He will give us additional depth and experience in the frontcourt, the ability to stretch defenses and another proven veteran in the locker room."

Harrington played in just 10 games with the Orlando Magic last year due to a staph infection following surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee in April 2012. He was waived by Orlando earlier this month.

The 33-year-old Harrington was dealt from Denver to Orlando in August 2012 as part of the four-team trade which sent Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers. In 2011-12, Harrington averaged 14.2 points and 6.1 rebounds in 64 games with the Nuggets.

Harrington has averaged 13.7 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 947 career games (445 starts) with the Pacers, Hawks, Warriors, Knicks, Nuggets and Magic.

Originally selected by Indiana with the 25th overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, Harrington has also played in 48 career postseason games, averaging 8.0 points and 4.5 rebounds.
