Memphis, TN (Sports Network) - The Memphis Grizzlies re-signed guard Tony Allen to a multi-year contract on Monday.

Allen has become an integral part in the Grizzlies' success since joining the club prior to the 2010-11 campaign.

"Tony's energy, effort and passion have connected with the City of Memphis, both on and off the court," Grizzlies CEO Jason Levien said in a statement. "We are absolutely thrilled to bring back Tony and his intensity to the Grizzlies."

Last season, Allen averaged 8.9 points with a career-high 4.6 rebounds in 79 games. Those numbers were even better in the playoffs as he averaged 10.3 points and 6.1 rebounds while helping the Grizzlies advance to the Western Conference Finals for the first time in franchise history.

The 31-year-old also has emerged as one of the better defensive players in the league, with him headlining the 2012-13 NBA All-Defensive First Team.

Allen spent the first six seasons of his career with Boston and was a member of the Celtics team that captured the 2008 NBA title.

In 545 games, the Oklahoma State product has averaged 8.0 points and 3.0 rebounds.

The Grizzlies also re-signed forward Jon Leuer to a multi-year deal. The 24- year-old posted 1.8 points in 19 games for Memphis following a Jan. 22, 2013 trade with Cleveland.
