George, Morris named NBA Players of the Week

New York, NY ( - Indiana Pacers forward Paul George and Phoenix Suns forward Markieff Morris were named the NBA's top players for the period ending Nov. 10.

George led the Pacers to a 4-0 record last week and to a franchise-best 7-0 start overall this season to grab the Eastern Conference award. He led the Pacers in scoring in all four games last week, averaging 24.8 ppg, ranking fifth in the East in scoring. The fourth-year forward chipped in with 7.5 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 1.75 steals.

Morris helped the Suns to a 3-1 record last week, and their 5-2 start is the best for the club since the 2009-2010 campaign. He tied for seventh in the Western Conference in scoring (22.8 ppg), 14th in rebounding (8.0 rpg), eighth in steals (2.0) and led the league in field goal percentage (.698). Morris closed the week shooting 75 percent or better in each of his last three games.

Other nominees for the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week were Atlanta's Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague, Brooklyn's Brook Lopez, Charlotte's Gerald Henderson, Memphis' Mike Conley, Miami's LeBron James, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Portland's LaMarcus Aldridge, San Antonio's Tony Parker and Washington's Bradley Beal.
