Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Atlanta Hawks big man Gustavo Ayon will miss 4-8 weeks after an MRI revealed inflammation and a right rotator cuff strain, the team announced.

Ayon, 28, suffered the injury Monday night in Atlanta's 92-87 loss to the Miami Heat in the team's preseason opener.

Last month, Ayon won MVP of the FIBA Americas tournament after leading Mexico to a 91-89 win over Puerto Rico in the championship game.

In two NBA seasons for the Hornets, Magic and Bucks, Ayon has averaged 4.8 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
