Busch sets Nationwide pole record at Indy

Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - Kyle Busch now holds the record for most career poles in the Nationwide Series after winning Saturday's qualifying for the Indiana 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Busch, a Sprint Cup Series regular, turned a lap around this historic 2.5-mile racetrack at 179.644 mph for his 31st career Nationwide pole, including five this year. Two weeks ago at New Hampshire, he tied Mark Martin with his 30th pole. Busch also won the race at New Hampshire to extend his series record of most victories to 58.

Sam Hornish Jr., the current points leader and former Indianapolis 500 winner, secured the outside pole with his lap at 178.969 mph. Trevor Bayne qualified third, followed by Elliott Sadler and Parker Kligerman.

Brian Vickers, Austin Dillon, Nelson Piquet Jr., Matt Kenseth and Paul Menard will start sixth through 10th, respectively, in the 250-mile race at Indy.
