San Francisco, CA (Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants agreed to terms on a one-year contract with outfielder Andres Torres on Thursday. Although financial terms were not released, the deal is believed to be worth $2 million and is pending a physical.

Torres played for the Giants from 2009-11, but was dealt to the New York Mets last offseason for Angel Pagan, who was also recently re-signed. Torres appeared in 132 games for the Mets a year ago and batted .230 with three home runs and 35 RBI.

The 34-year-old switch-hitter, who was not offered a contract from the Mets, could find himself in a platoon situation in left field with Gregor Blanco and may start against left-handed pitchers. He hit .286 against lefties this past season.

Torres' best season came in 2010 for the Giants when he hit .268 with 16 homers, 63 RBI and 26 stolen bases.

Over 547 games in parts of eight seasons with the Detroit Tigers, Texas Rangers, Giants and Mets, Torres has hit .241 with 30 home runs and 153 RBI.
