Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Detroit Tigers third baseman Miguel Cabrera exited Thursday's series finale against the Oakland Athletics after making an awkward slide into second base.

With two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning, Cabrera came up lame when he was tagged out trying for a double. Cabrera's left side was clearly bothering him as he limped off the field.

The team said Cabrera is listed as day-to-day with discomfort in his abdomen.

Don Kelly took over at third base, shifting from right field, in the top of the sixth.
