Houston, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - The Houston Astros signed reliever Chad Qualls to a two-year contract on Saturday.

The deal also includes a club option for 2016.

"Improving our bullpen is a top priority this offseason," said Astros GM Jeff Luhnow. "Bringing Chad back to Houston is a big step in that direction."

Qualls finished the 2013 season at 5-2 with a 2.61 ERA in 66 appearances for the Miami Marlins.

A 2000 draft pick of the Astros, Qualls made his MLB debut with the franchise in 2004 and remained there until 2007.

Pitching with eight organizations over his 10-year pro career, Qualls holds a 45-37 record, 3.79 ERA and 51 saves in 663 games.
