Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Chicago Cubs manager Dale Sveum named Kevin Gregg as the team's new closer on Wednesday.

Gregg is Chicago's third pitcher to hold the job this season.

Carlos Marmol started the year as the closer before giving way to Kyuji Fujikawa six games later. The Cubs then went with a committee of closers after Fujikawa went on the disabled list on April 13 with a right forearm strain.

Gregg is 5-for-5 in save opportunities this season and has tossed eight consecutive scoreless innings since joining the club on April 15.
