Diamondbacks reinstate Chavez, designate Hinske

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - The Arizona Diamondbacks have reinstated infielder Eric Chavez from the 15-day disabled list and designated infielder Eric Hinske for assignment.

Chavez suffered a right oblique strain on May 30 in the first inning at the Texas Rangers. In 38 games this season, he is hitting .325 with seven doubles, seven home runs and 25 RBI.

Hinske batted just .173 with one homer and six RBI in 52 games for Arizona this season. He has hit .249 with 240 doubles, 137 homers and 522 RBI in 1,387 career games with Toronto, Tampa Bay, Boston, Pittsburgh, the New York Yankees, Atlanta and Arizona.
