Recap: Seattle vs. Houston

Seattle, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Dallas Keuchel went the distance, George Springer hit the go-ahead two-run homer in the sixth inning and Houston topped Seattle, 4-1, in Sunday's finale of a four-game series.

Keuchel (6-2) allowed one unearned run on four hits while striking out six and failing to walk a batter, throwing 66 of his 106 pitches for strikes.

Marc Krauss also clubbed a two-run shot for the Astros, who earned a split after winning the last two contests.

"Any time you play a four-game series, you want to win the series, but if you can get away with a split, especially on the road, that's always huge," Astros manager Bo Porter said.

Hisashi Iwakuma (3-1) took the loss after yielding nine hits and four runs despite fanning six over seven full frames for the Mariners, who have dropped six of their last 10.

"At some point, we've got to start swinging the bats," M's manager Lloyd McClendon said.

Iwakuma allowed five hits through the first five innings and emerged unscathed, but Jose Altuve singled with one down in the sixth, and Springer followed with a shot to left which gave Houston a 2-1 edge.

Matt Dominguez sliced a ball to right which fell into the stands for a ground- rule double to kick off the seventh, and the Astros went up 4-1 when Krauss followed with a line-drive homer to right.

Kyle Seager's one-out single in the last of the seventh was the first Mariners' hit since the second, but Mike Zunino grounded into an inning-ending double play in the next at-bat.

Keuchel completed his outing by retiring the next six batters in turn.

Seattle picked up the game's first run in the home second, as Zunino singled with two away, Michael Saunders moved him to second with a hit and he scored when Keuchel threw wild to first after fielding Cole Gillespie's grounder near the mound.

Houston loaded the bases in the second on three singles, but failed to produce a run thanks to a fielder's choice grounder from Dominguez and a double-play grounder from Carlos Corporan.

Game Notes

Keuchel completed a game for the second time this season -- in an 8-0 win over Texas on May 13 -- and for just the third time in 48 career starts over three seasons ... Houston evened its season series with Seattle at 5-5, having taken four of seven meetings at Safeco Field.
