Recap: Kansas City vs. Texas

Surprise, AZ (Sports Network) - Matt Kata's run-scoring double in the top of the 10th inning gave the Texas Rangers a 7-6 victory over the Kansas City Royals.

The Rangers tied the game in the top of the ninth when Joshua Richmond scored on Max Ramirez's passed ball behind the plate. Michael Young finished with two hits, as did Joe Butler for the Rangers.

Derek Holland gave up six runs on nine hits over five innings for the Rangers. Derek Hankins picked up the win and Tyler Tufts notched the save.

Jason Bourgeois finished with two hits and two runs scored, while Erick Hosmer went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI. Billy Butler, Kansas City's other big stick, also had three hits and three runs batted in, including a two-run home run.

Luke Hochevar gave up four runs on eight hits in five frames for the Royals, but it was Michael Mariot who suffered the loss.
