Recap: Detroit vs. Washington

Lakeland, FL (Sports Network) - Detroit's Argenis Diaz doubled in Avisail Garcia in the bottom of the eighth, proving to be the final run in a 5-5 tie with Washington in Grapefruit League action on Saturday.

Andres Blanco had put the Nats ahead in the top of the frame with a solo homer off Joaquin Benoit.

Danny Espinosa finished with two hits and drove in a run for Washington, whose starter, John Lannan, allowed two runs and four hits while fanning four in two innings.

Justin Verlander tossed four scoreless innings, giving up only three hits and striking out four.

Brennan Boesch picked up a pair of hits and two RBI for the Tigers.
