Recap: Washington vs. St. Louis
Viera, FL (Sports Network) - Carlos Maldonado's two-run home run in the ninth inning allowed the Washington Nationals to earn a 3-3 tie with the St. Louis Cardinals on Wednesday.
Daniel Descalso scored on an error and Tyler Greene knocked in a run in the top of the seventh to give the Cardinals a 3-1 lead, but Tyler Moore led off the bottom of the ninth with a single before Maldonado followed with a shot over the right-field wall.
Jordan Zimmermann struck out three batters in three scoreless innings on the mound for Washington, while Shelby Miller allowed one run on two hits in a two-inning start for the Cardinals.
Descalso went 2-for-4 with a homer for the defending champions.
