Recap: Arizona vs. Houston

Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Chris Young clubbed a three-run homer as part of a seven-run sixth inning and the Arizona Diamondbacks completed a three- game sweep of the Houston Astros with an 8-2 victory on Sunday at Chase Field.

Gerardo Parra added a two-run single in the sixth, while Jason Kubel, who belted a career-high three home runs on Saturday, added a solo shot and finished a double shy of the cycle to help the D-backs take their sixth straight home win.

Josh Collmenter (2-2) surrendered two runs on seven hits and a walk with four strikeouts over six frames to earn the victory.

"He's just really solid," said Arizona manager Kirk Gibson of Collmenter. "He's really hard to rattle in situations. He has conviction in his pitches. He just does so many things well."

Justin Maxwell crushed a solo home run in the second for the Astros, who have now lost six straight and 10 of their last 11 games.

Jordan Lyles (2-7) was shelled for eight runs -- five earned -- on ten hits over 5 2/3 frames to absorb the loss.

Maxwell crushed a first-pitch cutter to straightaway center field to give the visitors a 1-0 lead in the second, but Kubel responded in the bottom half with a leadoff homer off the right-field foul pole.

It marked his fourth home run in six at-bats and gave him 500 RBI for his career.

Houston regained the lead in the sixth when Scott Moore led off the frame with a double to center and Chris Johnson followed with a two-bagger off the wall in left-center field to plate Moore.

Lyles ran into trouble in the sixth, when Stephen Drew, Aaron Hill and Kubel stroked consecutive one-out singles to load the bases for Miguel Montero, who scorched a line drive back up the middle.

Montero's liner deflected off Lyles' glove and bounced behind the bag at second. Houston shortstop Marwin Gonzalez corralled the ball, but his flip to Jose Altuve at second was dropped, allowing two runs to score.

"He was throwing the ball so well until that sixth inning," said Houston manager Brad Mills of Lyles. "If we could have been able to get an out on that ball up the middle, that really would have helped."

Young then launched a slider from Lyles deep into the left-center field seats to give the Diamondbacks a 6-2 lead.

Two more base hits chased Lyles, and Wesley Wright served up Parra's two-run single to left to cap the seven-run sixth inning.

Game Notes

Lyles is now 0-5 in eight road starts this season...Kubel now has 47 RBI since June 5, which is tops in the majors over that span...Arizona has taken the season series every year since Houston last won in 2006...Hill extended his hit-streak to 13 games with a single in the sixth.
