Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Texas Rangers activated pitcher Alexi Ogando from the 15-day disabled list and named him the starter for Tuesday's matchup with the New York Yankees.

Ogando was placed on the DL on June 9, retroactive to June 6, with right shoulder inflammation after striking out six and yielding just one run over 5 2/3 innings in a June 5 no-decision against Boston.

The 26-year-old right-hander made three rehab starts at Triple-A Round Rock and went 0-1 with a 6.23 earned run average. Over 10 starts with Texas prior to the injury, Ogando went 4-2 with a 2.93 ERA.

Texas also added pitcher Matt Garza to the active roster Tuesday, one day after acquiring the right-hander from the Chicago Cubs. Garza, who went 6-1 with a 3.17 ERA over 11 starts for the Cubs, is slated to make his Rangers debut Wednesday when he starts the third contest of a four-game set against the Yankees.

To make room for Ogando and Garza, Texas optioned pitchers Cory Burns and Joseph Ortiz to Round Rock.

Burns has gone 1-0 with a 1.64 ERA in nine relief appearances over two stints with Texas this season.

Ortiz has gone 2-1 with a 3.96 ERA over 25 relief outings in three stints with the Rangers this season, his first major league action.
