St. Petersburg, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Rays are expected to call up outfielder and top prospect Wil Myers from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

Myers was removed from Sunday's contest against Indianapolis in the second inning and will join the Rays in Boston for the beginning of a three-game set with the Red Sox.

Tampa Bay acquired Myers in an offseason trade that sent former ace James Shields to the Kansas Royals. The 22-year-old was ranked the No. 1 prospect by Baseball America entering the 2013 season and will make his major league debut with his first appearance.

In 64 games with Durham this season, Myers sported a .286 batting average and slugged 14 homers and 13 doubles while driving in 57 runs -- 32 of which he knocked in during his last 23 games.

Last year, Myers became the third player ever to win the Baseball America, USA Today and Topps Minor League Player of the Year awards in the same season. Andruw Jones (1996) and Josh Beckett (2001) were the only others to accomplish the feat.

To make room for Myers on the roster, the Rays will option infielder Ryan Roberts to Durham. He hit .238 with three homers and 13 RBI in 47 games this season.
