Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Cardinals have activated catcher Tony Cruz off the 15-day disabled list and recalled outfielder Adron Chambers from Triple-A Memphis.

Sunday marks the first day teams can expand rosters.

Cruz had been sidelined with a stress fracture in his left forearm and will probably be used only as an emergency catcher. He has trouble swinging the bat and went on the DL just two weeks ago.

The 27-year-old is batting .212 with a homer and 11 RBI in 40 games this season.

Chambers appeared in 11 games for the Cardinals earlier this season and went 2-for-12 with an RBI. The speedy 26-year-old has batted a combined .230 in 70 games at the major league level the past three seasons and has been part of St. Louis' postseason roster each of the last two years.
