Mariners place Gutierrez on DL, recall Ackley

Seattle, WA (Sports Network) - The Seattle Mariners placed outfielder Franklin Gutierrez on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a strained right hamstring.

Gutierrez was activated from the disabled list on Saturday and went 2-for-6 in two games. He was out from April 23-June 21 with the same injury.

In 18 games this season, Gutierrez is batting .267 with five home runs and 11 RBI.

Outfielder Dustin Ackley was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to take his place.

Ackley batted .205 with one home run and eight RBI over 45 games with the Mariners before being optioned to Tacoma on May 26.

A second baseman for most of his major league career, Ackley made the transition to the outfield with Tacoma and hit .365 with two home runs and 14 RBI in 25 games.
