Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The San Francisco Giants have placed pitcher Chad Gaudin on the 15-day disabled list due to an elbow contusion.

The right-hander was hurt when he took a line drive from Derek Dietrich off his throwing elbow in the fifth inning against the Marlins on Thursday.

Gaudin is 2-1 with a 2.60 ERA in 22 games this season. His last four appearances have been starts, his first since the 2009 season with the Padres and Yankees.

The Giants recalled lefty Mike Kickham from Triple-A Fresno to start Tuesday's game against the Dodgers in Gaudin's place. The 24-year-old sixth-round draft pick made his major league debut May 28 at Oakland, when he started and gave up four hits and four runs over 2 1/3 innings in a 6-3 loss.

Kickham has compiled a 3-5 mark with a 4.81 ERA in 14 starts for Fresno this year.
