Padres sign OF Venable to two-year extension

San Diego, CA (Sports Network) - The San Diego Padres have signed outfielder Will Venable to a two-year contract extension.

The extension, which runs through the 2015 season, was announced Tuesday.

Venable, 30, is batting .273 with a .315 on-base percentage in 129 games this season. He has 20 home runs, 18 doubles, seven triples, 15 stolen bases and 49 RBI.

In parts of six major league seasons, all with the Padres, Venable has batted .257 with a .323 on-base percentage. He has played right field and center field this season.
