Pirates' Rodriguez placed on DL, Cole to make debut

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Wandy Rodriguez has been placed on the 15-day disabled list after leaving his start against the Atlanta Braves on June 5th with forearm tightness.

The 26-year-old lefty is 6-4 in 12 starts with a 3.59 ERA.

The Pirates selected the contract of pitcher Gerrit Cole. He will make his major league debut against the San Francisco Giants Tuesday night. Cole is rated as the top prospect in Pittsburgh's farm system. He was selected first overall by the Pirates in the 2011 draft.

In 12 starts for Triple-A Indianapolis, Cole is 5-3 with an ERA of 2.91.
