Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz was reinstated from the restricted list prior to Sunday's series finale against the New York Mets.

Ruiz missed the first 25 games of the season while serving a suspension for testing positive for an amphetamine.

The 34-year-old Panama native is coming off an All-Star 2012 campaign, during which he set career highs across the board. In 114 games, he batted .325 with 16 home runs and 68 RBI.

To make room on the roster for Ruiz, the Phillies designated veteran backstop Humberto Quintero for assignment. Quintero hit .250 in seven games this season.
