Bronx, NY (Sports Network) - Oakland Athletics outfielder Chris Young has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left quadriceps.

The move is retroactive to April 30.

Young was hurt during Oakland's 19-inning marathon win over the Angels on Monday. He is hitting just .172 in 23 games with four homers and 15 runs batted in this season.

The Athletics recalled outfielder Michael Taylor from Triple-A Sacramento to fill the roster spot. Taylor was batting .329 with five homers and 16 RBI in 18 games for the River Cats. He appeared in three games for the Athletics earlier this season and was hitless in six at-bats.
