New York, NY (Sports Network) - New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia underwent arthroscopic surgery on Thursday to remove a small bone spur from his throwing elbow.

Dr. James Andrews performed the surgery. Sabathia is expected to make a full recovery and be ready prior to the start of the 2013 season.

In August, Sabathia was placed on the disabled list after experiencing soreness in the elbow. However, he returned on Aug. 24 and made his final seven regular season starts before taking the mound three more times in the postseason.

Sabathia finished the 2012 campaign with a 15-6 record and a 3.38 ERA.
