Mets make it official with Colon

Flushing, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Mets announced Saturday that they have signed veteran starter Bartolo Colon.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but the New York Post reported Wednesday it was for $20 million and was contingent on the 40-year-old passing a physical.

Colon finished the 2013 season with an 18-6 record and 2.65 earned-run average in 190 1/3 innings over 30 starts for the AL West-champion Oakland Athletics. He earned an All-Star nod for the first time since 2005.

Colon entered the league in 1997 with the Cleveland Indians, and has put together a 189-128 mark and 3.94 ERA in 411 appearances, all but six as a starter.
