Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Mets selected the contract of pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka from Triple-A Las Vegas and outrighted pitcher John Lannan to Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Matsuzaka was assigned to Las Vegas at the end of Spring Training after Jenrry Mejia won the final spot in the starting rotation. He posted a 3-3 record with a 4.42 ERA last season in seven starts for the Mets.

Lannan appeared in five games out of the bullpen this season compiling a 1-0 record with a 15.75 ERA. He has allowed three home runs and seven runs on seven hits in four innings of work.

He spent last season with Philadelphia and went 3-6 with a 5.33 earned run average over 14 starts with the Phillies. The left-hander did not pitch after Aug. 14 due to a left knee injury and also missed time with a strained quadriceps.
