Mets' Marcum comes off DL to make season debut

Flushing, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Mets activated starting pitcher Shaun Marcum from the 15-day disabled list in time to make his season debut on Saturday against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Marcum, 31, had been sidelined with a neck injury.

The right-hander signed with the Mets in January after spending the previous two years with the Milwaukee Brewers, going 20-11 with a 3.60 ERA in 54 starts.

To make room for Marcum, the Mets optioned pitcher Josh Edgin to Double-A Binghamton.
