Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Milwaukee Brewers placed outfielder Ryan Braun on the 15-day disabled list with a right thumb contusion.

Braun, who hasn't played since Sunday against the Phillies, is hitting .304 with nine homers and 36 RBI this season.

The 2011 National League MVP is on the DL for the first time in his career.

The Brewers are expected to call up outfielder Caleb Gindl from Triple-A Nashville to take Braun's roster spot.
