Los Angeles, CA (Sports Network) - The Los Angeles Dodgers placed utilityman Jerry Hairston Jr. on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday with a left groin strain.

Hairston was batting .255 with a homer and five RBI in 20 games for the Dodgers this season, his second with the team.

To fill the roster spot, Los Angeles has recalled infielder/outfielder Elian Herrera from Triple-A Albuquerque. Herrera was posting a .250 batting average with the Isotopes, while driving in 16 runs in 27 games.
