Tempe, AZ ( - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim granted unconditional releases to three veteran players on Sunday, cutting loose first baseman Carlos Pena, catcher Yorvit Torrealba and infielder Chad Tracy.

In addition, pitcher Wade LeBlanc was reassigned to the team's minor league camp.

All four were attempting to make the club as non-roster invitees.

Pena, who tied for the American League lead with 39 home runs with the Rays in 2009, hit just .209 with eight homers and 25 RBI in 85 games with Houston last season before being released by the Astros in late July. He signed with Kansas City a month later, but had just three September at-bats with the Royals.

Torrealba, a 13-year veteran, batted .240 with 16 RBI in a backup role with Colorado in 2013.

Tracy spent the previous two seasons with the Washington Nationals, primarily as a pinch-hitter of the bench. The 33-year-old hit .202 with four homers and 11 RBI in 92 games last year.

LeBlanc went just 1-5 with a 5.40 ERA in 17 games (7 starts) with Miami and Houston last season, but had pitched well this spring. The left-hander did not allow a run over 5 1/3 innings spanning three Cactus League appearances.
