DiSarcina returns to Halos as third base coach

Anaheim, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim named Gary DiSarcina third base coach on Tuesday.

The 45-year-old Massachusetts native comes back to southern California after serving as manager for the Triple-A Pawtucket Red Sox last season. Prior to that, DiSarcina spent two seasons as assistant to the Angels' general managers Tony Reagins and Jerry Dipoto.

DiSarcina was taken by the California Angels in the sixth round of the 1988 amateur draft, and spent his entire 11-year career (1989-2000) with the club. He hit .258 with 28 home runs, 186 doubles and 355 RBI in 1,086 games at shortstop, while racking up a lifetime .973 fielding percentage.
