Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim agreed to terms on a six-year contract extension with 2012 American League Rookie of the Year and star outfielder Mike Trout.
According to multiple reports, the deal is worth $144.5 million for the duration.
The club revealed the news on Friday evening, adding that official word of the new pact will be announced on Saturday. Trout will be paid $1 million for 2014 and then the extension kicks in through the 2020 season.
The 22-year-old native of south Jersey finished the 2013 season by hitting .323, attaining league highs of 109 runs scored and 110 walks along with 27 home runs, 39 doubles and 97 RBI over 157 games.
Trout was the 18th unanimous rookie of the year, including eighth in the AL, when he was recognized as the league's best first-year player by batting .326 with a .399 on-base percentage, 30 home runs, 129 runs and 49 stolen bases.
