Royals give Endy Chavez minor league deal

Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals signed veteran outfielder Endy Chavez to a minor league contract on Monday.

Chavez hit .203 with a pair of homers and 12 RBI in 64 games for the Orioles in 2012.

In 974 career games with Kansas City, Montreal/Washington, Philadelphia, the New York Mets, Seattle, Texas and Baltimore, Chavez has hit .269 with 26 home runs, 229 RBI.
