Kansas City, MO (Sports Network) - The Kansas City Royals announced Wednesday that the team has declined its 2013 option on pitcher Joakim Soria.

Soria had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in April, forcing him to miss the entire 2012 season.

The 28-year-old is 13-15 with 160 saves and a 2.40 ERA in 298 career games with the Royals.
