Astros call up Laird

Houston, TX (Sports Network) - The Houston Astros have selected the contract of infielder Brandon Laird from Triple-A Oklahoma City.

Laird hit .353 with two home runs and 14 RBI in 12 games with Oklahoma City this season. He batted .257 with one homer and four RBI in 17 games for Houston last year.

The Astros also optioned infielder Brett Wallace to Oklahoma City and designated pitcher Xavier Cedeno for assignment.

Wallace went 1-for-24 at the plate in seven games, while Cedeno had an 11.37 ERA in five relief appearances.
