Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Houston Astros outfielder Justin Maxwell was placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.

Maxwell was taken out of Tuesday's game against the Mariners when he was hit by a pitch by Seattle starter Hisashi Iwakuma with the bases loaded in the third inning. Brandon Barnes filled in for Maxwell for the duration of the game.

Maxwell, 29, is hitting .234 with one home run and six RBI in 20 games with the Astros this season.

With Maxwell's injury, the Astros have recalled 23-year-old outfielder Robbie Grossman from Triple-A Oklahoma City. Grossman has a .324 batting average with no home runs and five RBI in 19 games with the team.
