Denver, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Colorado Rockies purchased the contract of pitcher Jair Jurrjens to start against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday.

Jurrjens, who was acquired in a trade from Cincinnati on Wednesday, will make his first appearance in the majors since June 29, 2013 as a member of the Orioles.

The right-hander, who was an All-Star in 2011 with the Braves, went 50-36 in 118 starts for Atlanta from 2008-12 and made three appearances for Baltimore last season before he was sent to the minors in July.

Jurrjens went 2-3 with a 4.46 ERA in six starts this season for Triple-A Louisville

Colorado also optioned pitcher Rob Scahill to Triple-A Colorado Springs and transferred pitcher Jhoulys Chacin to the 60-day disabled list.

Scahill appeared in three games for the Rockies, while Chacin went 1-7 with a 5.40 ERA across 11 starts before landing on the disabled list Monday with shoulder inflammation.
