Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Cleveland Indians signed pitcher Matt Capps to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training on Thursday.

Capps, 29, went 1-4 with a 3.68 ERA and 14 saves with the Minnesota Twins a year ago.

He is 29-33 with 138 saves over eight Big League seasons with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Twins.

The Indians also announced that first baseman Matt LaPorta will be invited to major league camp as a non-roster player. The former top prospect had been outrighted off the team's 40-man roster in November.
