Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Atlanta Braves starter Kris Medlen exited Wednesday's game against Toronto after taking a comebacker off his left calf in the second inning.

Medlen stuck out his leg trying to stop Emilio Bonifacio's line drive up the middle and took the sharply hit ball off his calf. He turned and recovered the ball but had no chance at throwing out the fleet-footed Bonifacio.

After a brief injury delay, the right-hander stayed in the game and finished the inning, though he later gave up a two-run single to Melky Cabrera.

David Carpenter took over in the third, and with the Braves trailing, 3-0, that meant Medlen's winless streak reached nine straight outings. He was charged with three runs on four hits and a walk in two innings of work.

Medlen came in with a 1-5 record despite a respectable 3.16 earned-run average.
