Clanton wins long playoff in Indiana

South Bend, IN (Sports Network) - Cydney Clanton birdied the seventh playoff hole on Sunday to win the Four Winds Invitational.

Clanton closed with a 2-under 70 to finish at 8-under-par 208. Second-round leader Marina Alex managed an even-par 72 to end at minus-8, while Marissa Steen posted a 70 to get into the playoff as well.

The trio continued to play the 18th until a winner was determined. They matched pars the first three times through the final hole at Blackthorn Golf Club.

Alex stumbled to a bogey on the fourth playoff hole to drop out. Clanton and Steen matched pars on the fifth and sixth extra holes.

Finally, at the seventh extra hole, Clanton drained a birdie chance to earn her first Symetra Tour title.

Hannah Jun and P.K. Kongkraphan both closed with 70s to share fourth place at minus-7. Alena Sharp (68), Jaclyn Sweeney (68), Catherine O'Donnell (69), Marta Silva (70) and Mitsuki Katahira (72) tied for sixth at 6-under 210.
