Lake Charles, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - McNeese State senior wide receiver Ernest Celestie has been granted a sixth season of eligibility by the NCAA, the Southland Conference university announced Friday.

While attending Texas Tech, the Lake Charles native missed the 2009 and '10 seasons due to a heart condition and a shoulder injury.

Celestie transferred to McNeese State in 2011. After three seasons with the Cowboys, he ranks in the top 20 on the school's all-time career receptions list with 77 catches and has 1,172 receiving yards.

McNeese State provided the NCAA with documents that indicated Celestie was denied the opportunity to compete due to the medical conditions and not by choice.

He had foot surgery after the 2013 season, but is ahead of schedule with his recovery for the upcoming season.
