Conway, SC (Sports Network) - Former Wofford starting quarterback Brian Kass will use his final season of eligibility as a graduate student at Coastal Carolina this year.

Kass spent the last four years at Wofford, including one as a redshirt. Under the NCAA's graduate student transfer-exception rule, he can play immediately at Coastal Carolina.

Kass, from Raleigh, N.C., was the starter at Wofford last season, but a hip injury sidelined him for three of the Southern Conference tri-champion's final four games. He struggled in an FCS national quarterfinal at North Dakota State and was taken out of the game.

In Wofford's triple option, he rushed for 380 yards and five touchdowns and completed 19-of-44 pass attempts for 354 yards, six touchdowns and two interceptions.

Coastal Carolina won a share of the Big South Conference title and a playoff game for the first time while finishing 8-5 last season.
