Recap: TX-San Antonio vs. Arizona

San Antonio, TX (SportsNetwork.com) - Nick Wilson rushed for 174 yards and a touchdown on 30 carries to lead Arizona to a 26-23 victory over Texas-San Antonio on Thursday.

Anu Solomon converted 17-of-32 passes for 231 yards and a touchdown, while Casey Skowron was successful on all four of his field goal attempts for the Wildcats (2-0), who defeated UTSA 38-13 at home last season.

Tucker Carter threw for 228 yards on 22-of-33 passing with a touchdown and interception. David Glasco II had 35 yards and a touchdown for the Roadrunners (1-1).

Arizona wasted little time getting on the scoreboard with Solomon connecting with Cayleb Joseph for an 85-yard score on the opening play from scrimmage.

Joseph finished with 143 yards on four receptions in the win.

The Wildcats forced a three-and-out on UTSA's first possession, then Skowron converted a 38-yard field goal after a short drive to give the visitors a 10-0 lead.

Carter orchestrated an 11-play, 85-yard drive late in the first that culminated in a 10-yard touchdown pass to David Morgan II as San Antonio cut the deficit to a field goal.

Arizona answered with a 23-yard field goal from Showron to extend the margin to 13-7 with just over 12 minutes left in the second quarter.

The Roadrunners' following possession resulted in an 18-yard run by Kam Jones that gave them a 14-13 lead. UTSA added a safety later in the quarter after a snap was high of Solomon in the back of his own end zone.

A pass interference penalty on the Roadrunners placed the ball at the 2-yard line late in the second and Nick Wilson scampered in for the touchdown to cap the first half scoring with Arizona up 20-16.

Skowron kicked two successful field goals in the third quarter to make it a 10-point spread, then Sean Ianno missed a short 25-yard attempt late in the third that would prove costly.

The hosts drove 80 yards on eight plays in just over three minutes to cut the deficit to 26-23. Glasco rushed for a 3-yard score to cap the drive with just under eight minutes left in the fourth.

The Roadrunners got the ball back with just minutes remaining with a chance to either win or tie. However, Carter was intercepted by Jared Tevis on the fourth play of the drive. UTSA did force another punt from Arizona after three straight run plays, but the game ended with a illegal forward lateral as time expired.
